Hi Bill, I frequently contact iOS developers, and am impressed by how many of
them really want to help. Many developers have no idea blind people are using
iPhones and find it fascinating that their app can make a difference to the
lives of blind people.

One very good example of an app that really got with the program with regard to
accessibility is the Bossjock app. I didn't make the initial approach on that
one but it transformed into a 100% accessible app.

I've also had success with the developers of the official Twitter app,
Stuff.co.nz and TVNZ here in New Zealand and quite a few other NZ-based apps.
Last year, I was invited to speak at a conference here in New Zealand of iOS
developers. I think having them see just what an empowering tool the iPhone is
in the hands of a blind person really did, if you'll pardon the expression,
open their eyes. I was then contacted by a whole bunch of app developers asking
me to check how well their app worked, and it's made a big difference here. I
think clear, polite, detailed advocacy goes a long way most of the time.
