I don't think anybody wants to go back to "being isolated" as you put it. What they do want are certain features not available in the mainstream, such as what Anna has pointed out in her posts about the AccessNote app. I didn't hear her or anybody else who is enjoying the app say they want to be isolated. They want to get jobs done efficiently, and if the mainstream doesn't offer that, then they will use those apps that do, and never mind who produced them. These phones and apps are tools, means to an end, not sociological statements about blind ghettos and other such nonsense.
