Hi Sarai,

It sounds to me as though you'd have an easier time using the setup that Chris
recommended, if you want to have two separate input sources recorded at the
same time without any VoiceOver input, and a monitor line for headset use while
you record. I find the Griffin iMic very handy to use for recording, but the
ART USB Dual Pre is probably better for what you've outlined you want to do.
From the description, you'll be able to separately adjust volume of your inputs
using the Dual Pre. The iMic is set up either for a single input mini-jack or
a single output mini-jack, with a switch to flip between. You'd need to use
the iMic from a USB port for one source and the line-in jack on your laptop for
another source, and then do a separate hijack on each source. And you're using
Sound Studio, which is not a multi-track editor.

I'd trust Chris here, especially with his direct experience of the Dual Pre.
You could just record both sources at one go.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
