For what it's worth, I can't do it either. It's worth mentioning that the 
left/right does not drag the beam as such; instead, moving further and further 
left or right makes you move faster and faster in that direction, and only by 
returning to the center do you stop spinning. So, if you move to the left edge 
of the screen, you'll be whirling in left-words circles extremely fast. I'm 
sorry if that was already mentioned, but it is confusing at first and you may 
not figure it out, at least I didn't until someone explained it to me. As for 
capturing artifacts, I have no idea. Maybe I need to start at the top of the 
screen instead of the middle next time...
