If all the songs in the playlist are mp3 then when you go to burn the CD
it will ask if you want an Audio CD or MP3 CD. So if you have m4a files
you'll need to convert those to mp3 first. If you don't have the Import
Settings in Preferences set to MP3 you'll need to go there and make your
choices for bitrate and stuff. After that you can pick all your m4a
files and then choose Create New Version from the file menu and then
pick Create MP3 Version. Then with all the mp3s in a playlist you should
be ready to make your mp3 CD.

I am trying to burn a playlist that I have created in iTunes to a cd.
The files are m4a, and I want to make an mp3 cd. When I try to burn the
playlist, Itunes says it can't do that, I assume, because the files are not
already mp3. Is there a way to convert these to the highest quality mp3 and
then burn that to a cd?
