Alex,
Setting up the vm is accessible.  I think as long as you have the key you can 
put it on three machines.  My vm is 40 gigs, but all I'm using my windows 
machine for is k1000 and some windows games that don't have mac versions yet so 
I don't need a big one.
Hope somebody else can answer the other questions you have.
