OK, I'm really confused about Vuescan. I'm seriously thinking about getting
the Pro version, but will the version for the Mac... notice, I did not say
for I O S, I'm speaking of the version specifically for OSX, will it perform
OCR recognition? I hear that I will have to probably use it in conjunction
with something like fine Reader in order to take the scanned document, and
have it be recognized. I just want to be sure I'm getting the best bang for
my buck. $99 is a bit steap for Fine Reader. I'll do it, but only if it's
my only option. I'm aware of Docuscan, and do use it, but what I don't like
about Docuscan is the fact that it only seems to scan one page at a time.
So, say for example, that I want to scan a book. I don't want to destroy
the book and rip the spine apart just to scan the thing. I like being able
to do like I did in the windows days, with Openbook, or K1000, where I could
lay both pages face down on the scanner bed, hit scan, and then allow it to
scan two paged mode. With Docuscan, it's not seeming to recognize that
there are two pages separated by a spine, and scan each one individually, so
yeah, that's the only real objection I have to using Docuscan. On the other
hand though, Between Fine Reader, and! Vuescan, that's gonna be nearly $200
by the time it's all said and done.
this is why I'm just wondering if there may be another better sollution that
would definitely beyond a doubt give me that two page scanning ability, and
obviously, that would be accessible.
Chris.
