Ok, Chris and Mario, let’s be logical here. That idea will not work. But let’s
play devil’s advocate for a minute. Let’s say that it did work. Let’s say that
syncing Voiceover preferences to all Apple devices worked. That would mean that
every voice from the Mac would have to be installed on the iPhone or whatever
I-device the person has. And since the current I-devices right now don’t have
big enough hard drives to hold all those voices, Apple would have to create
brand new I-devices that are capable of storing those big voices. Now think
about it for a second. Would you want to pay big bucks for an I-device, the
same amount maybe that we paid for our Macs, just so you can sync all your
Voiceover preferences that are on your Macs to those devices. I don’t think so.
So it isn’t pheasable to have such a feature.

Dear Apple Accessibility Team,
With such deep integration of iCloud with so many aspects of iOS and OS X, it's
surprising that VoiceOver has so far been left out. Many VoiceOver users own
multiple Apple devices, and would benefit greatly from being able to sync
VoiceOver preferences across all their devices.
Currently, for Mac, there is the portable preferences feature. Though no doubt
a good idea at the time, this is now a little out dated and clunky, requiring a
user to carry around a USB flash drive to plug into each mac, it also seems to
have troubles syncing preferences in multiple directions, at least in my
experience. I've also tried exporting my VoiceOver preferences to a third party
syncing service (Dropbox), but this also does not seem to work smoothly. It
doesn't seem to export or import my pronunciation and keyboard commander
preferences, for example.
iCloud seems like the perfect solution for this problem. It could offer
seamless syncing of VoiceOver preferences across multiple Apple devices,
without needing to carry around the same portable flash drive. It could offer
syncing between Macs, between iOS devices and even between Macs and iOS devices
so far as the same preferences were applicable.
I hope you consider this for a future update to VoiceOver and both iOS and OS X.
Thank you for all your great work.
Kind regards,
Nic
