Depending on the app, deleting the .app file from the Applications folder will erase the app and all its data. This is particularly true of apps that come as .app files, as opposed to .pkg files. Normally, if more than just deleting has to be done, you will have gotten an uninstaller file along with the program. To empty your trash, go to the Finder, then the Finder menu, and choose delete trash from there. I believe cmd-shift-delete also does it, but I could be wrong.
