It's driving me nuts too and it shouldn't be necessary! I don't get those with 
brltty in terminal and I don't get them reading web braille books with the BARD 
app. I have pointed out the problem to accessibility but maybe I should do it 
again. It definitely detracts from using braille with voiceover despite the 
fact that I do appreciate the work that has been done to provide braille 
access. The thing is: this happens with text files as well as braille files.
