Personally I do not use security software. Using good judgement and
common sense is your best tool here. You will not find security suites
in the app store because these intigrate in to your system, and Apple
does not allow apps that do this in the store. I think the major
security suite vendors, kaspersky, mcafee, etc. have software for the
mac. Not sure how accessible it is, but I have no plans to try any of
those on my systems. Sometimes this kind of software actually is
overprotective and causes more problems than it solves.
Original message:
Dear List I can’t find full spectrum security software in the aps
store. I know that the consensus is that you don’t need any,but I have
heard that the apple in built firewall is actually less strong than the
windows firewall, and on windows they still suggest you don’t rely on
it. Is everyone using there macs without security software? There are
some free programs in the ap store, but clamsav only works when you are
scanning and I’d like to keep the stuff off my machine in the first
place, not go scanning for it once it is there. I can’t find Sophos in
the ap store. Can anybody recommend any accessible security software
which doesnt degrade performance?
Many Thanks, Lee
