I'm not in front of my Mac just now so I will have to guess the exact path but the folder you are asking about definitely exists and I use it all the time.
I believe it is something like Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Add to iTunes. I might not be exact on the path but the folder you want for sure is called "Add to iTunes." When you copy music files in there, iTunes will suck them out of that folder and bury them into its bowels and organize its library accordingly unless you turn off that auto-organization stuff. So if you want to keep these files outside of iTunes as well, then you better make those copies first before sticking them in this folder. I like this method of loading stuff into iTunes, personally. Also, note that iTunes will only do this when the program is running.
