Hi Teresa. What used to work really well for me, is opening the conversation
with right-arrow, then using VO-J to interact with each message. I press the
delete key to get rid of the message, and I'm right back on my message list
where I can hear the name of the next participant in the conversation. I prefer
this method because if you open the message by pressing Return or command-O,
you get the subject name spoken at the beginning of every message, then when
you delete that message, the name of the mailbox you're in is spoken. It's an
efficiency drain.
The only trouble with this method I use is that as of Mavericks, pressing VO-J
doesn't work every time. I've seen this on my partner's and my Mac so it's not
just specific to me. When I get into this mode, it requires three presses of
VO-J to go from being int eh conversation list to the message body. Sometimes
it works as it should, with one press, but most of the time it does not. It's a
shame that one never got fixed.
