I don't have a 5211 card, but I'm looking at the code right now.
A station that receives a PROBE RESPONSE doesn't do anything with the
supported rates received.
How are you checking the rates in the frame (through a packet capture ?)
Have you tried connecting to a 802.11b AP to see what kind of probe
response the madwifi-ng client gives out ?
