I'm not sure which driver the prism2.5 device uses,
but you may be able to modify your modprobe.conf file (if there's
something like it in Ubuntu) and have it preload ath_rate_sample, ath_hal,
then ath_pci and then wlan (and finally wlan_scan_sta if in station mode).
