I would like to add a comment:
http://madwifi.org/changeset/1473 doesn't change anything with locking
mechanisms.
Either the issue was fixed in an earlier revision, or you're not getting
the kernel panic because it's not grabbing the locks twice.
Do you know which revision you were using before (besides 1246) ?
