#683: madwifi-ng current source Ad-Hoc mode not working

madwifi-ng Ad-Hoc mode does not appear to work on a Toshiba M55-S1001
running Ubuntu Dapper Drake. im not sure of the exact chip because lspci
returns Unknown Device.
after building madwifi-ng according to FirstTimeHowTo, when i try
'iwconfig ath0 mode Ad-Hoc' it returns "Error for wireless request Set
Mode : invalid argument"
going back to the old driver makes it work with no problem.
