I'm experiencing the same problem with 3com 3CRPAG175B if 3com vendor
driver is used. Vendor driver is based on 4.1.0 atheros code. Madwifi
version is r1645.
I read through atheros 4.1 buglist, and there are a lot of known issues
related to throughput problems in g mode. It is also recommended to
disable power management, since it seems to be quite buggy.
I noticed that if the driver is updated to atheros 4.2 based driver,
throughput is 22-25mb. 3Com doesn't have driver based on that yet but ACU
+ general atheros driver can be used.
Worth of trying anyway.
