#922: Revisions since r1708 have failed to connect on MacBook

All the snapshots since r1708 (I have tried 20060916, 20060923, 20060927)
have failed to connect. This is running Fedora Rawhide on a MacBook
against a WPA-encrypted network. r1708 has worked fine with all the
recent kernels. I am guessing that the problem is the upgrade of the HAL
to 0.9.18.0 in r1711.
