using madwifi 0.9.2 on Fedora core 5 with kernel 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4 i686
access point is a Apple Airport Extreme
multiple clients most with Netgear WG511Ts, and an Apple Aiport Extreme
card (client).
I am getting PHY errors while downloading files via "yum" (a package
manager) from the internet. PHY errors seems high (about 100 new a
second). most seem to be related to CCK timing and OFDM timing with an
occasional CCK restart (about 1 every 5 seconds). This download is the
only traffic occurring on my local network (I have neighbors of course
with wireless networks, but they all operate of other channels).
For the most part, "yum" is operating fine - with the occasional package
corruption, but it recovers well. On the other hand, "firefox" and
"links" do not operate even when forcing them to use only a single
connection. "links" stalls at exactly the same point per website when
downloading pages from the internet (somewhere between 5k and 20k). "ssh"
operates fine.
The only machines that are having problems are the 2 linux boxes with the
configuration above. Both exhibit exactly the same behavior when carrying
out the same operations.
My MAC and PC (Windows XP) running on the same network with Netgear WG511T
cards are working fine.
