@Jared, madwifi is dead. ath5k is the future. Madwifi has closed-source
components, which means it can be difficult and frustrating to work with.
ath5k, on the other hand, is open-source from top to bottom.
fwiw, the bgscan 0 fix works great for me most of the time; when it
doesn't then a suspend and resume followed by a rerun of the bgscan
command fixes the issue.
