 Hi, I guess that is worth clearing up: something does prevent me from
 establishing connection with AP
 with almost happy ath5k and well supported card, WEP is on:

 I am not sure if issue is about actually short timing out of
 authentication, or otherwise improper behavior of driver. Card is being
 recognized fine with YaST2 networking utility and configuration shown very
 well.

 iwevent tells key is being set in restricted mode, which should be
 matching previous need to hack authmode 2 for madwifi. SuSE has been
 upgraded from former version, and transition seems have happened smooth.
 Would want to give life to ath5k, though, even if madwifi should be better
 working, as it was before.
