The Nokia folks seem to be strangely silent on the whole USB host thing. Maybe they are not wanting to implicate themselves in a power injection hack that could damage your tablet. That would explain why they took out the vital bits from the kernel. I didn't see USB host support on the roadmap so I don't hold out much hope for the fixing of what I would consider a major regression of the N800 functionality vs. the 770. Nokia has surprised us with bigger easter eggs though.
