Yeah this is not 100% supported at the moment. We need to make sure the initrd does the mounting for you, but I'm not sure it does at the moment (I've not specifically tested it). Is there an exotic filesystem on it? LVM or similar or is it just a nice simple FS straight on to the disk? If it's got LVM we'll have some issues overall, but otherwise it should be possible to make dracut mount the disk for you, but I've simply not had time to look into this kind of setup.
