I just want to say that the ATI video graphics adapter issue is really a
major thing. I had similarly istalling the first (and the second, and
the third..) time experience with the broken boot.
Mageia is the only distribution I know and I experienced (I don't know
how about Mandriva, but I had tested dozen of distros before finally
picking up Mageia) with such issue that after the standard installation
on the default settings the system isn't able to start due to mysterious
kernel panic messages.

Fix this in the next release is the must!
So.. I can understand that a poor Linux user, who experienced this is
also trying to find such minor "issues" during the installation.
