I dont know for today, as i dont use any more Amarok since
Clementine has be released. I remember that to have amarok working
with mp3 we needed to install the phonon-xine backend. And after
this : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178184 i said bye bye
to amarok for the great clementine.

To be honest I haven't used Amarok for some time. I never really
liked it, and like you I find Clementine much more to my taste.

Anne

I use Amarok (as do most of my "clients" who run either Mandriva or Mageia) and it does work quite well. Clementine (a fork of Amarok 1.4) is just a stripped down version of today's Amarok. From what I can see, the backend usage for either has not been changed so much if at all.

If you want more of a multimedia feel, then Amarok (IMHO) is the way to go, it is keeping pace with KDE4; if you want "just a player", then Clementine could be one of your choices.

If you have not tried Amarok in a while, then you should give it another try. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Cheers,

Marc
