Nope, fails with:
match-colors: main.c:208: msqrt_aux: Assertion `inverr<1e-3' failed.
I don't really understand the code, but I think that
match-colors tries to map between rgb triples that are
equivalent in some way. Two grayscale images (even if
converted to color) will have matches at every point,
even if their histograms are different.
Sheesh -- is forcing two grayscale images to have similar
histograms really this hard?

It works in the same way than the IM function 'map' but map is for indexed
images.
