As William already told you, libmagick.la is generated during the make process. Hence, you'll find it in magick/libMagick.la only after you succesfully build IM with make. Moreover, libMagick.la is not really a library (open it with a text editor to see fro yourself). Start with a fresh new copy of the IM 6.2.7 sources, DON'T copy any files from previous IM releases and try to configure and build it. Which configure command do you use?
