There is a simple workaround with the Debian-package: convert black.jpg fractal.png -composite new.gif BTW, I think I found another bug, using the Debian-package and at the moment I could not test it with Suse: I started with this example: http://www.cit.gu.edu.au/~anthony/graphics/imagick6/annotating/text_bottom_right.jpg This is ok: $ convert logo: -strip -resize x500 -crop 250x300+10+0 +repage -font /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/F/FreeMono-Bold.ttf -fill black -pointsize 20 -rotate 90 -draw "gravity southwest text 40,20 'Bug with bmp?'" -rotate -90 -frame 12x12+5+5 image.jpg Now I tried the same syntax creating a bmp-file and konqueror cannot display this bmp-file: $ convert logo: -strip -resize x500 -crop 250x300+10+0 +repage -font /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/F/FreeMono-Bold.ttf -fill black -pointsize 20 -rotate 90 -draw "gravity southwest text 40,20 'Bug with bmp?'" -rotate -90 -frame 12x12+5+5 image.bmp This file is only shown as a gray area. But, if you use this bmp-file, like this: convert -size 890x530 xc:black image.bmp -composite image2.jpg the bmp-file is displayed over the black area.
