: If you don't want percentages set -depth 8
: As for color names, they are not all from the rgb.txt file but most are.
: many are defined by the SVG defination.
:

This breaks what we need to do. The value changes we are looking at
are often in the 9th and 10th bit (which are visible in certain
circumstances!) The thing that's frustrating is that I switched away
from the IM that Fedora Core 6 where all this worked "correctly" to
the newest version only to have it become useless for one of the
things I use it for.

: | Would a menu item / commandline switch to change back to straight code
: | values be feasible?
: |
: Would be nice. such an option should allow you to set colors as
: #hex_color rgb(...) at delth 8 or at 16
: and optionally turn on and off color names, if color matchs a name.
:
: This would effect not only "display" but also the %[pixel:...]
: format escape and probably txt: and "identify" -identify info: output
: too. Default should be as it currently is.

Actually the commandline option is more important if you are going
to insist that the default remain as it currently is---which I don't
really understand: If I'm poking around at code values and up pops
"slate blue" what good is this to anyone?

I don't know what any of this stuff you mention is (I'm a pretty basic
commandline user) but I'd sure like to be able to see the pixel values
again. Looks like I'll have to abondon IM for this and use Photoshop
under windows. Yuck!

Do you know enough about the code to tell me how to put it back to the
old behaviour, at least in the display magnifier?

I don't care about the other stuff above. I just need to be able to
interroage pixel values easily on 10-12 bit data!
