| Thanks.

| _______

| #!/bin/bash

| for file in $* ; do
|     convert -quality 90 +dither -colors 64 -depth 8 $file $file
| done

WARNING: -quality depends on the output image file format.
It is different for JPEG than PNG.

The BEST compression results from PNG without going lossy, is
to use a filter like optipng.

-colors 64 is okay but only for thumbnails, and for thumbnails
using -colors 256 is fine.

Once a file is below 1kb is size you don't get any real disk space
saving. A file sill needs at least one full disk block, regardless
of how small its actual size is.
