More than likely it is interoducing some 'order' to the dithering it used. A ordered-dither algortithm that can use a pre-defined set of colors is something that IM is in need of. This is espacially the case for generatin small 'low color count' icons, such as what used to be required for older window systems. But it also applies equally well to better optimization methods for both per frame compression and interframe animation Optimation. There is another compression technique but which is for animations which is discussed in http://imagemagick.org/Usage/anim_opt/#compress_opt Anthony Thyssen ( System Programmer ) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- `` One never knows whether you are going to hit adventurer on the head with the obvious or hide something in the mists of deviousness.'' --- Ann E Cleary <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anthony's Home is his Castle http://www.cit.gu.edu.au/~anthony/ _______________________________________________ Magick-users mailing list [email protected] http://studio.imagemagick.org/mailman/listinfo/magick-users
