Dear ImageMagick mailing list. I'd be grateful for some help to get me off the ground. I'm familiar with unix commands but am not an expert and have only trivial experience at command-line installation.
1. As a prelude to installing ImageMagick I installed "MacPorts"; I think that installation was successful but the promised $PATH modifications to my (previously non-existent) .profile file did not happen, so I added them by hand. I am telling you this because I guess it could be a sign of something nasty. But I don't really know. 2. $ sudo port selfupdate returns the following, which I take to be a good sign: MacPorts base version 1.600 installed Downloaded MacPorts base version 1.600 The MacPorts installation is not outdated and so was not updated selfupdate done! 3. my first attempt to $ sudo port install ImageMagick seemed successful but returned one warning (I'm sorry, I didn't keep the log) 4. subsequent attempts to $ sudo port install ImageMagick yield the following nasty stuff. ---> Verifying checksum(s) for ImageMagick Error: Checksum (md5) mismatch for ImageMagick-6.4.4-8.tar.bz2 Error: Checksum (sha1) mismatch for ImageMagick-6.4.4-8.tar.bz2 Error: Checksum (rmd160) mismatch for ImageMagick-6.4.4-8.tar.bz2 Error: Target org.macports.checksum returned: Unable to verify file checksums Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. 5. It's not clear to me whether and where the distribution files have been installed. I can do this but I don't know what it really means. $ cd /opt/local/var/macports $ ls build distfiles receipts software sources Can anybody give me guidance? Many thanks, yours, Paul. Paul R.
