The facility, whatever it is called, is said to be easier to use than that. For myself I cannot really research PS because I don't use it and cannot use it because there is no version of it for Unix/Linux. What I do want to research is whether I can attain similar results eg reducing the washed out effect of over exposed highlights using IM. So far the links you provided make very interesting reading.
