I installed the Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. I still got the same result. ( I have VS 2005 installed, if that is of any consequence.)
I went ahead and downloaded GraphicsMagick. It seems to install fine on the Vista 32 bit box. I will try it on the Vista 64 later. Thanks at any rate.
