I concur.

Magit could be easilly expanded for displaying non-edited files. This
feature would be controlled by a variable, set to off by default. What
is more complex is to implement a system for marking the items you want
to work on (in case you are interested in the log of more than one
file/directory, for example) and support for showing directories as
well.

OTOH, git log, diff, etc are so rich and support so many interesting
variations that covering a small fraction of them can be hard, forcing
you to go back to command line from time to time anyways. But this is
another issue.
