I am VERY SORRY to have caused this breakage and I am taking full
responsibility.

The move to git-commit-mode was premature. I intended to keep
magit-log-edit as a fallback or possibly even as the default but was talked
out of it. I should have followed my intuition by playing it safe instead
of listening to those who said that wasn't necessary. It is my mistake that
I did not do so.

I am working hard to fix the regressions. Unfortunately that also means
that I don't have time yet to implement features that take advantage of the
new workflow. There are some unexploited benefits that are currently hidden
below all the regressions.

Some of the drawbacks of the new workflow will vanish after making overdue
changes elsewhere. But some drawbacks are inherent to the use of
emacsclient.

Because fixing the regressions is taking longer than I had originally
expected I am currently investigating whether it is still possible to
revert the removal of magit-log-edit and giving users the choice between
the two modes.

  Sorry,
  Jonas Bernoulli
