For this part of the issue I am taking responsibly and because I don't want to be responsible for data loss, magit now no longer turns on `auto-revert-mode' for files inside git repositories.
But the real issue is that `revert-buffer' can result in data loss, and that has always been the case, and we have always used it anyway.
