No, feel free to leave your branches in your personal repos if you want, that's fine. The -shared one is mostly for when you can't use your personal repo. For example, if you want to work with Stacey over a particular feature to be submitted for review later, then she wouldn't be able to push to your personal repo, so you can use mahara-shared instead.
