 What did it do after you continued (i.e. after doing "c" in gdb)? The
assert is pretty bad (i.e. I have no idea why would it happen) but it
shouldn't be fatal per se.

 Anyhow, I've added another check to ensure that the profile is not NULL,
so it shouldn't crash (or, to be more precise, will probably crash
elsewhere :-() but this still doesn't explain how/why does it happen. Any
additional information about this is welcome!
