 This is not difficult. More difficult would be to _keep_ auto preview but
do it in a separate window instead of the one in the main frame -- but even
this shouldn't be that complicated.

 Frankly, personally I don't see anything wrong with having the viewer
window as part of the main one, so it's really up to you to decide. If
you're prepared to implement this -- please go ahead. But I won't do it
myself as IMHO even if it might be nice it's very, very, very low priority.
Certainly, what is low priority for me may be very high priority for you --
but I can't know about it so this is why I think you should decide yourself
:-)
