The problem was different.
The group name I enterred was for a subgroup of autocollect/New Mail.
If I enter a group at the highest level (i.e., same level as
autocollect), there is no problem.

Again, this may reflect my ignorance of Mahogany's functioning.
Suppose I am creating a group with names I already have in another
group. E.g., a committee within my department. What is the preferred
approach in Mahogany?

The obvious approach is to enter a group name
and then reenter all the contact info for each group member, but surely
this is wrong?

As an alternative, I would like to enter just the
nickname for each member. (A comment on this related to possible
nickname duplication: the order of search for the nickname ought to be
sensible.)

Thanks,
Alan
