supposed to trap the exceptions.

 Sorry for having forgot that you were under Windows (under Unix it's sent
to the console). Under Windows you need a tool to view the debug messages,
there are a lot of them but I can recommend 2: DbWin32 (the simplest) and
dbgview from sysinternals (useful if you're doing Windows development
yourself).
