VZ -- No need for wild guessing about what annoys me. It's the false website advertising for Python support. Five-year-old features that no longer work should be removed from the website. I came to M for Python, and may leave because of Python, that's all.
> my usual strategy is to tell people the truth The website does not follow this strategy. It lists Python scripting as a working feature. (Move it to the "to do" list.) > But the intention *is* to draw people interested in developing Python > subsystem to M. This is like a car dealer selling a car with no engine. When the customer returns complaining, he says, "why do you hold a personal grudge against me? We want customers who are interested in designing car engines for us." The dealer should replace the sign that says "cars for sale" with one saying "engine designer needed." > Certainly, please go ahead. But why take it so badly? The discrepancy between your comments about Python and the website advertising is huge. Synchronize the two. Since I came to M for Python, it should not be surprising that lack of Python is driving me away. There's nothing emotional about it. > I have the impression that this is not enough for PGP It is. GPG is a console tool. All third-party front-ends use it exactly that way. There are dozens of them. Someone who knows the Mahogany code could write a system pipe interface for console tools in less time than it's taking us to compose emails like these. Whatever the future holds for Python, S/MIME, PGP/MIME, or anything else, a simple console interface is a good first step. Also -- if you start building crypto directly into M, it may affect your legal ability to distribute it to/from various countries. Much better to keep such code segregated out as separate tools. Then you avoid all those legal issues.
