 This would be a bug and would need to be fixed.

 Note that this vehemence is part of my personal junk filter, there is no
built-in discrimination against HTML messages in Mahogany.

 I still don't understand what the problem is. If you need to read HTML
messages, just use the HTML viewer -- this is what it is for, after all.
