I think there is a collection of macros that make
Vim look familiar to Windows users, which may address
the ease of use issue. That is, give Windows users
the option of gVim Easy plus the mswin.vim macros.
How Vim is called can (easily?) be incorporated in
the user preferences.

I see at least two issues: how to keep things familiar
and easy for a new user, and how to allow "power users"
to achieve their needs. For example, I use gVim as my
external editor, and it does substantial preprocessing
of my mail before I edit it. This is a crucial part of
my email experience. So access to gVim clearly allows
the latter. But can it provide the former? I think so.
In fact I think both could be achieved in a pretty "stripped
down" gVim.

Cheers,
Alan Isaac
