Another possibility to replace our current editor could be to use
Scintilla[1]. Although it's primarily a source editing component
(and thus lacks some nice to have features mail-specific features
like automatic wrapping and paragraph formatting), I think it's much
easier to use than Vim.

Note though that adding Cream[2] to Vim leads to a very powerful and
easy to use combination (which I actually use to type this message),
but I'm not sure it would be doable to include both in M.
