I have noticed some annoying behavior with Mahogany. There's
a slight possibility it's my text editor (TextPad), but that seems
unlikely.
The problem is that sometimes, when I'm editing a message in
the external editor and I go to save the file, the "Save As" button will
pop up -- the editor doesn't know where the temp file is. I can look
and see where the file originally was (in /Documents and
Settings/BrenBarn/Local Data/Temp), but if I navigate to that directory,
the file isn't there. I don't see how the text editor could be deleting
the file it's currently using, so it seems that somehow Mahogany is
pulling the rug out from under it. Has anyone else experienced this
behavior. (It doesn't happen with every message, just at random.)
Incidentally, what is the situation with adding multithreading to
Mahogany? Whenever I have a slow or unreliable connection to my
mailserver, Mahogany freezes and/or crashes. This seems like really
bad behavior from a program. Even if multithreading isn't added, it
seems like there should be some kind of "please wait" notification; as it
is, I simply sit staring at a partially-drawn GUI, and as it hangs longer
and longer some GUI elements disappear. I have no way of knowing
whether Mahogany is waiting for the mailserver or is crashing for some
unrelated reason.
