hi. all
i am still having problems with sound in debian.
first of all,can i include sound without recompiling the kernel?
{compilinng the sound modules, using modconf, in to the existing kernel?}
i use an "opti audio 16" soundcard. redhat's sndconfig had no problems
picking it up.(i am dual booting RH6.2 and Debian[potato])
RH uses two modules( opl3 and mad16) for audio. of these, i already have
compiled opl3 as a module, during installation.
but using modconf i can't seem to compile mad16. the io address and irq's
are mandatory( thats the error msg from modconf). so i opened up RH's
conf.modules, and from there i obtained the values for these params ,
used by RH.
using these values i tried again to install mad16, but with no avail.
how can i find out the relevant info? is it avilable thrugh the BIOS,
if so Where in the Bios?
thanx in advance.
