+Dear All,

I have been watching the list from the past few days after the last meeting,
i think people are getting more and more geared up. Gud!

Now somethings:

Good MS is creating a tool, excellent. But they can never beat Linux as far
the system robustness and stability is concerned. I have been in server
management from 1997 onwards. I manage my own linux server in US (on which
the ilug-cochin.org is hosted and this mailing list runs). We have custom
programs which are all under GPL and allow us to make further enhancements.
This basically gives us more flexibility as well as stability, thus giving
good solutions to our hosting customers. Btw i would like to see this LAMP
docs anywhere if anyone can provide me with a link, all i came up in google
was [Lamp Project] Linux Audio Mangling Program, LAMP - Linux Animation and
Movie Player :) Do i need to say anything else on this lol

I read in an earlier post that someone talked about giving a solution in
exchange of MS+MSSQL. And there was a reply also which said postgres and
mysql are real gud options. Well i agree to that. Today NASA, who was using
oracle on their servers until sometime last year shifted to MYSQL .. for wat
? PRICE ? absolutely no, they have enough money they can burn for ages
together. Its for stability and robustness. However I do agree that oracle
has some features which mysql lacks, but development is on, and we would see
more features in future.

As per the request earlier, i can give a step by step procedure how to
configure apache+mysql+php if LUG members want it. Though i would need
sometime to prepare it (have some work tied up) People who have tried to
setup mysql would really understand that there is virtually nothing you have
to do to set it up and running.

Last but not the least LINUX is way to go and there is nothing which can
stop it.

P.S. As noone took the trouble of changing the subject of the mail, I took
the oppurtunity ;-)
